ダナン発ホイアン:合同ツアー・プライベート・自力、どれが妥当か

Da Nang to Hoi An is 30 km, forty minutes. On a leg that short, most of a tour price is not the driving — it is the guide, the tickets, lunch and the itinerary. Knowing what you are paying for makes the choice much easier.
Three ways, side by side
| Option | Includes | You gain | You give up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group tour | Vehicle, guide, usually lunch | Cheapest for one or two, with commentary | Fixed hours, early return, shopping stops |
| Private tour | Own vehicle, own guide | Your own hours, plus commentary | The highest price |
| Car with driver | Vehicle and driver, no guide | Cheaper than a private tour, total control | You buy tickets and read up yourself |
What a group tour usually covers
- Morning: hotel pickup, then the Bay Mau coconut forest and basket boats
- Midday: lunch at the tour's restaurant
- Afternoon: the old town — Japanese Bridge, old houses, assembly halls
- 17:00–18:00: back to Da Nang
Variants add the Thanh Ha pottery village, Tra Que herb village, or pair it with My Son as a two-site tour.

Are entry tickets included?
This is the most useful question to ask before booking any Hoi An tour. The old-town ticket is a bundle covering a set of heritage sites, and many tours do not include it. Walking, eating and photographing need no ticket; going inside the old houses and assembly halls does. The price has changed over the years, so the booths at the entrances are the reliable source.
Coconut-forest and basket-boat tickets are usually separate too, even on a group tour.
Hue – Da Nang – Hoi An combos
Plenty of operators sell all three over three or four days. Two things to watch:
- The Hue leg is long — 100 km over the Hai Van Pass, and a return day trip is a very long day. Cheap tours take the tunnel to save time, losing the best stretch of road.
- Actual time at each place — three days for three cities means under a full day in each once driving is deducted.
Going it alone? See the four-day itinerary and the Hoi An–Hue route.
How to choose
- One or two people, first visit, want commentary → group tour, and accept the early return
- You want the lanterns → your own car, leaving in the afternoon
- Four or more, or with children or older relatives → private car; see the Da Nang–Hoi An route
- Staying overnight in Hoi An → you only need a one-way; book the return or a run to the airport the next day
Want to choose your own return time?
Book a private car to Hoi An, leave in the afternoon, and the driver waits until you have seen the lanterns.
FAQ
Where does a group tour to Hoi An actually go?
The usual route is the Bay Mau coconut forest with basket boats in the morning, lunch, then the old town in the afternoon. Some add the Thanh Ha pottery village or Tra Que herb village. Half-day tours are usually the old town alone.
Will a day tour let me see the lanterns?
A daytime group tour usually returns before 18:00, so no. To see the lanterns you need an afternoon-evening tour, or your own car so you choose when to leave. This is the single most common disappointment with Hoi An group tours.
For four people, is a group tour or a private car cheaper?
From four people up, a private car usually matches or beats the total group-tour price — and you set the times and skip the shopping stops. For one or two people the group tour is still clearly cheaper.
