The old town ticket
Hoi An sells a bundled ticket: one ticket admits you to a set number of heritage sites from a list — old houses, assembly halls, museums. Walking the streets and eating needs no ticket; going inside the sites does. The price and how strictly it is checked have changed over the years, so ask at the booths on the edge of the old town rather than trusting a number in an old article.
Is Hoi An good alone?
Very. The old town is small and entirely walkable, busy until late, and full of small places that suit eating alone. The one thing to plan is the ride back to Da Nang after 21:00, when ride-hailing thins out. Booking a return trip up front is the simplest fix.
