In Da Nang, the area matters more than the hotel. At the same price, the wrong area costs you an extra ride or two and half an hour every day.
The five main areas

Choosing by trip type
- Two or three days, lots of sights → Hai Chau. Near markets and restaurants, every journey short.
- With young children → My Khe. Gentle beach you can walk to, food nearby.
- A resting trip, rarely going out → Truong Sa or Son Tra. Just budget for each trip out.
- A long stay, working remotely → An Thuong. Monthly apartments, cafes, varied food.

The spread between areas is only 5 to 8 km. Over a three or four-day trip that is not enough to trade away convenience — so choose by trip type, not by the distance table.
One common mistake
Booking a beautiful resort 12 km out, then calling a car into town for dinner every night — four evenings, eight journeys. If you do stay out there, either eat on site or hire a car by the day from the start; the total is usually less than booking each leg.

Beach or city centre in Da Nang?
The beach side (Vo Nguyen Giap, My Khe) if the trip is about swimming and resting. Hai Chau in the centre if you care more about food, markets and cheap short trips. The two are only 2 to 3 km apart, so the gap is small — but for going out to eat in the evening, Hai Chau is clearly easier.
Which area is most convenient for Hoi An?
The Marble Mountains area and south My Khe, because they sit on the coast road to Hoi An — about 5 to 6 km closer than the centre. But if you are only going to Hoi An once, that gap is not worth giving up the convenience of the centre.
Is staying at a resort far from town a problem?
It is, if you have not budgeted for transport. The resorts along Truong Sa road are 8 to 15 km from the centre, so every dinner out is a car ride. A resort makes most sense when you intend to stay inside it most of the time, or when you have already hired a car by the day.
