다낭에서 뭘 먹지: 아침·점심·오후·저녁, 그리고 비 오는 날

The real question for someone already in Da Nang is not "the ten best dishes" but "what do I eat right now". So this is organised by meal, by weather and by neighbourhood.

By meal

MealDishNote
BreakfastMi quang, fish-cake noodle soup, banh miGood mi quang places usually sell out before 10:00
LunchChicken rice, bun bo, com tam, banh xeo11:00–14:00 is fierce sun; pick somewhere indoors
Late afternoonPork rice-paper rolls, nem lui, cheCon Market is busiest 15:00–18:00
DinnerSeafood, hotpot, sea snailsSeafood along Vo Nguyen Giap; ask the per-kilo price first
Late nightRice porridge, night mi quang, snailsAn Thuong stays open latest
💡 Tip: With seafood, always ask the price per kilogram AND ask them to weigh it in front of you. That is the difference between a good dinner and a surprising bill.

By weather

  • Rain (September–December) — bun bo, porridge, hotpot; Con Market is roofed, so no dashing between stalls
  • Cool nights (December–February) — hotpot, bun bo, duck porridge
  • Hard sun (May–August) — che, rice-paper rolls, salads; skip hotpot at midday
Snack stalls inside the market — how Da Nang eats in the late afternoon

By neighbourhood

AreaCharacter
Con MarketSnacks, che, cakes; the most choice in one place
Han MarketBy the river, easy to combine with souvenir shopping; slightly pricier than Con
An ThuongWhere foreign residents live: small places, open late, vegetarian and Western options
Hoang Dieu – Le DuanBanh xeo, cha bo, long-established places
Vo Nguyen Giap seafrontSeafood with a sea view; packed on weekend evenings
Hoa Khanh, Cam LeResidential, noticeably cheaper, few tourists

Doing a food tour sensibly

The three main eating areas are 2 to 4 km apart. Walking all three is a whole evening and fairly tiring. Two better options:

  • Motorbike — most flexible, but you need parking at every stop
  • Car with driver by the hour — good for four or more, and the only right answer if there is beer involved; see day hire
ℹ️ Stated plainly: We do not rent motorbikes — we only arrange one on request. If you are drinking that evening, a car with a driver is the only correct choice.

What to try if you only have a few meals

  1. Mi quang — the dish that defines the region; eat it in the morning
  2. Pork rice-paper rolls — the most Da Nang thing on any table; late afternoon or evening
  3. Fish-cake noodle soup — a sweet fish broth, nothing like northern fish noodles
  4. Seafood — fresher and cheaper than almost anywhere else
  5. Che — one aisle of Con Market has a dozen kinds

FAQ

What do people eat for breakfast in Da Nang?

Mi quang and fish-cake noodle soup are the two local staples. Da Nang's banh mi is excellent too, and sold early. Most of the good mi quang places sell out before 10:00 — arrive later and you tend to be left with the tourist-facing ones.

What should I eat in Da Nang when it rains?

Bun bo, fish-cake noodle soup, rice porridge, or hotpot. The rainy season runs September to December, and indoor places around Hai Chau plus Con Market are the easy answer — the market is roofed, so you are not dashing between stalls.

Where should a Da Nang food tour go?

Three areas are worth it: Con Market for snacks and che, the An Thuong quarter for small, fairly priced places that stay open late, and Hoang Dieu–Le Duan for banh xeo and cha bo. Motorbike or car with driver both work; the three are 2 to 4 km apart, which is a whole evening on foot.
